Today, and everyday, we celebrate business owners

Today is the United Nation’s International Day of the MSME and a great opportunity to celebrate business owners.

In light of the United Nation’s International Day of the MSME today, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the dynamic, fast and flexible small businesses and small business owners who run the world.

According to the data provided by the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), MSMEs (Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) make up over 90 percent of all firms and account on average for 60-70 percent of total employment and 50 percent of GDP.

At Spotcap, we are lucky enough to have worked with thousands of small business owners. We understand their drive and have seen their passion first hand—they’re always looking to meet customer demands. When they see an opportunity, they want to capitalise on it, and for that, they need financial flexibility. Which is where we come in.

To date, we have worked with businesses across a range of markets and industries. More than 60 percent of our customers are more than 40 years old, and 50 percent have been in business for more than 10 years. We could throw statistics at you all day but they aren’t able to paint an accurate picture of the kind of people who gravitate toward owning their own business, and what that looks like. So we wanted you to hear it from them…

We recently worked with Vintage TV, one of the most prolific producers of music TV programming in the UK, hear about their journey in our video:

Or if you’re one of the few among us who prefer to read rather than watching videos be sure to check out our Client Spotlight section on The Small Business Blog.

Small business owners are unique and cannot be adequately defined by an age, industry or lifestyle but, they often have a healthy supply of passion, dedication, problem-solving skills and creativity. Today we are happy to celebrate the contribution of business owners around the world.
